Hello everyone! Even though I'm very new to this forum, I've been playing RwR for some time. In addition to that, I've been working on something, and now I think it's time to publish it!



Finnish Defence Forces Mod 1.01

Description: This is a little project I've been working on for a couple of weeks. As the title says, it features the armed forces of Finland, Finnish Defence Forces. The opposing faction is called "Yellow Nation", a joke that people, who have served in the finnish military will get, standing for unknown nation. It is basically just the Brown faction from Vanilla game with little tweaks.

Features:
-Brand new faction: Finnish Defence Forces
-3 new soldier models
-Names for finnish soldiers
-Rank icons and names according to finnish military
-2 brand new weapons: RK-62 and RK-95
-Some new sounds: gun sounds, ricochets etc.
-Retexture of the APC: it tries to represent the iconic Finnish APC, SISU XA-180 "PASI"
-Some other minor stuff, which I've forgotten to mention

Things I'd like to add in future:
-Custom map(s) (I currently have very little idea of this, so any help would be appreciated)
-More weapons
-More sounds
-More custom textures
-Modified supports
-Third faction? (What should it be?)
-More vehicles
-Whatever else comes to mind

ideas:
third faction based on maybe countries next of finland?
are we gonna see a snowmobile on this mod?
mind if i ask what kind of guns are you adding in future?, names please

Yeah, I have played the FDF Mod on ArmA 2 and it's fantastic! Also the original FDF Mod for the Operation Flashpoint is a blast. It might have some influence.
The Yellow Nation faction is somewhat based on Russia (weapons, names etc.) already so who knows, maybe the third faction could be Sweden Or maybe guerrillas, militia or something.
I doubt I'll be making a snowmobile, because as of now I have very little knowledge about importing new vehicles. Would be nice feature though!
Weapons I'll be adding will of course be equipment from the Finnish Defence Forces: KvKK 62 (light machine gun), MP5, shotgun (cannot remember at the moment, which one is in use), TKIV 85 (sniper), Sako TRG (heavier sniper) and so on. Maybe even 12.7 ItKK (heavy machine gun) or KrKK 05 (grenade launcher).

I really wish to add winter units, vehicles and maps (if I had any idea how to start mapping, already downloaded Inkscape, but that's about it so far).

As I stated earlier, the "Yellow Nation" is a term used in Finnish Military for Unknown Nation in exercises.

recreated the apc winter camo? Frozenbyte has different camo than other maps.
good point on that apc thingy (APC, SISU XA-180 "PASI")hehe

was the shotgun remington 870 wat was in use? Not sure

importing new vehicles, i only know one guy who knows how to do it, i think hes busy thought most of time.

pistols are possible to add but might be bit difficult, least ive ran to some problems with pistols when implementing them.

you got any good arma 2 server? Running out of patience with silent warriors servers...
