Today we had that battle on map...um 7? The snowy long map, bases in a line.
This was outside East base, enemy's final hold. I hoped in and a few new guys were there struggling at the gate, so I set a few bags. Then saw armory truck near and set to work. Those other players left. I almost did, but waited. More came in! And the Siege raged at this line for a couple hours. Eventually we had lots of players. By the end I rebuild parts of the line multiple times and placed 2 mortars and 4 MG's

My Mortar were totally safe. High ranked Ai got in them and helped a lot. AI and Players interchanged on the MG's. I replaced as needed.

Some sandbag shots from tonight. Seeing a lot more use on the field and a lot of new people using them too. With the new HP they are nice, big difference. And it really changes the dynamics of battle flow sometimes. Thanks!

File comment: We actually had to use sandbags on this hilltop for once. Pushed them back to East farm and had a real tough fight.

File comment: And this is why we needed those bags, right the last screen we got rushed again. It was great!

File comment: Held this roof top for quite a while. Someone put up a mortar but it was countered with an airstrike pretty quick.

How many battles you have won from behind of sand bags?
I dont use them but only in Power junction.
I like more to change place or sneak.

For me the problem is same as with MG's: It's too difficult to plant em in place you want.
It would be good if it highlight the place where it really is planted.
Now you never know where it goes.

And how you can carry sandbags but not few grenades? :D

How hard can it be? :D It goes in front of you. The game even assists you by moving your character if you're trying to build one close to stuff or roof edges.

1) It's not always about charging. Half the time I am holding a flank, or covering a position to assist other players. I don't chase points. But I do stick and move all the time. Yet you should know, RWR isn't often won by just running into combat over and over. I know for a fact I commonly help take points by covering other players approach to the capture zone.
Besides, the AI will use them as cover and it helps increase their chances of survival which means more troops in the area of action. It's one of the few ways players can actually "change" the structure of the field. And that tiny variable can change the tide in any firefight.

and 2) I still have grenades. I use my backpack a lot. And I switch when needed.

Anyway, to each his own. It's just a matter of people using their "skills" together.

the MG / sandbags end up facing the direction your cursor is pointing

for example test this out, start putting down sandbag in front of you in the middle of a empty street

move your cursor behind you

sand bag will magically appear behind you once you finish

once you figure this out its relatively easy to get them facing where you want to, you just have to start putting it down and point your crosshair the direction you want it to face

Using Sandbags to make a safe place to guard the ladder with a shield and knife. This is a great standard tactic for Ladder Protection when you need a constant guard for heavy firefights. Here with new space requirements for SB placement I had to set them long ways, but it worked just as good. All snuggly and waiting.
