I still find the comms truck rather unsatisfactory. The best tactic on Keepsake Bay and Old Fort Creek maps is to drive it to the edge of the map, as it is more useful safe and not destroyed than it is being used to counter enemy comms.
Plus, the AI drivers frequently drive it straight into the enemy.
I call the comms truck the "ice cream van" because it drives round the neighbourhood like an ice cream van selling ice creams.
Well, if you think about it, that's exactly what it's meant for, again designed for single player and coop. You gain so many unexpected events from such a simple mechanic:
* friendly comms truck driver AI, who barely knows how to drive, decides to evade a nearby battle and makes a foolish attempt to try going straight through the battle to get to the other side
* you witness, or don't, the enemy bots destroying the friendly comms truck and you lose comms temporarily; a nice different 3 minute period
* you can see the exact same charging behavior happen for the enemy if bases and roads are aligned that way
* you can hunt the parked comms truck far behind enemy lines and get nice rewards for destroying it + the front line often manages to push forwards with the enemy suffering from not having comms
* sometimes the truck actually manages to flee
