Both kill and die chance are the same for both us and ai. This seems to be a common complaint of new players. Some would just call You a noob and tell you to L2P and call it a day, but i'll bite.
Basically, all guns don't do specified damage like in most games - instead they have a percentage chance to kill. So whether You die or not is up to chance, and so sometimes - epecially when You lag a bit - it might seem annoyingly unfair. It really is not, if a gun has a 50% chance to kill with each bullet it's the same for them and us. That aside, You just have to stick to few basic rules when playing this game :
- survival above all. If You see a bleeding teammate but theres a gigantic fight raging on, nobody will blame You if You let him die without getting Yourself pointlessly killed while trying to help out in the open and under fire. There are exceptions to this rule of course, for example vehicle survival > soldier survival, in other words if You have to die to shield a tank then it's worth it. - cover is Your bestest friend ever. Only people that are fine in the open are snipers staying far from combat, beyond enemy engagement range. - shooting skill will never matter more than being smart. Knowing how to utilize terrain, using height advantage, knowing when it's better to disengage and run or not engage at all is far more important than being a top shot. Always consider Your situation and act accordingly, shooting (and therefore making noise and bringing attention to Yourself) is not always the best idea. - learn vehicles. A lot of players think themselves masters of the battle when in a tank and charge the enemy. This is a mistake, regardless of the vehicle. Bots carry a LOT of grenades and rockets, and vehicles are not that tough. Always stay with the players and ai infantry, preferably just behind them and use Your superior firepower to support and protect them or even to just keep enemy cowering behind cover. - ALWAYS carry a medpack. Stick it in Your backpack if you want to carry deployable cover or rockets, but always have it. There is a ton of them dropping from enemies and allies, and being a medic is, aside from being good teamwork tactic, very profitable in terms of xp/rp. Just remember rule #1. Wait for the bleeding person to get into a position where You can heal them without getting Yourself and him/her killed. - talk to other players. A lot of people ignore the chat. On the other hand there are a lot of nice players who will help You out in game with advice, sticking together, buying a deployable mg/mortar/whatever that You don't have unlocked yet or can't afford. - never underestimate targets of opportunity. Things like enemy comms trucks, water towers, mortar ammo, fuel tanks and so on. They're pretty easy to destroy and net You a bag of xp/rp. Same goes for destroying enemy vehicles. Just remember to look who is actually driving the vehicle before You shoot at it, players often steal enemy vehicles, and enemy vehicle WILL NOT change its colour to reflect this. Always hover over driver/gunner seat to make sure who is actually inside.
And lastly, if Your ping is high - distance is Your friend. Up close You really can't beat ai if Your latency is 150 and higher, before your hit info reaches the server the bot will kill You. The further You are the lesser effect ping has.
I'm not trying to patronize You, i'm just trying to point out the most common mistakes new playes make. With a bit of practice, some skill and a bit of luck You can easily clear 750-1000xp per hour.
