I think I pissed someone off last night in my first co-op online game by picking up a (dropped) vest, but they thought I also took their P90.

Is there an established etiquette of what is ok to loot, and when?

not really an established educate, though some players will grab others gear for protection and give it back.

Basic consensus is to try and get stuff back to the player who had it, or to try and get the item to its destination for example TOWs and Miniguns.

If enemy drops loot, who ever can take them.
If player dies and drops rare weps/loot, they should be returned to owner if he ask em back.

Some players pick dead players items and stash/sell em even the owner is asking them back. I say its stealing, and I put this player to my "list".
On the "list" you dont receive medical care from me, and all your loots will go directly to my stash until i get my weps back. :)

If u pick my vest to save your life, its ok for me.

Looting is more like into the player's mentalities.
Some playing for looting, some others dying while saving someone's loot/equipment.
I remember that, a long time ago, chasing a looter in SAS inva I said to him: "Nobody on this very server does not steal anything from anyone", so that's my etiquette.
