I've played this game since the very first version and I've enjoyed it a lot. When the Aeolian Coast map was added I had no problems playing on it with good FPS, but now whenever I'm around buildings on that map or around buildings on Saint-Anne my FPS drops to less than 10, then muzzle flashes bug out causing hundreds of flashes to go on at once from a single gun causing FPS to drop even lower. These are my two favorite maps and I would really like to be able to play them. Any ideas on how to fix this?

What kind of PC do you have, and what settings (antialias, video mode, post processing, shadows) are you playing on?

All sorts of stuff has been added that might be choking some bottleneck on your system. Grass effect is known to add plenty of polygons, the water effect spends a fair amount of time in pixel shaders.

I've also noticed at least one bug in map view that causes a performance hit even if the map view is closed.

Action near buildings could indicate CPU getting out of cycles, but the urban areas are usually also most crowded with visuals.

I would try turning shadow depth bias down. I had stuttering on those maps before I turned it down as well.

The game runs fine for the first 5 minutes, and then devolves into frequent stuttering seemingly without cause.

Drivers are updated, have done multiple re-installations. Have rebooted the computer. Played with every setting and have changed it from fullscreen to windowed. Nothing works...

Shouldn't I be able to destroy this game with An AMD Radeon 6850 and a Phenom II?

This thread was from 2013. The game has been probably remade at least two times since those times :)
