Post subject:  Can't start a campaign
When I go to make a new campaign and I click "Start!", the game pauses for a second, then resumes and never starts the campaign. If I close out of the menu after clicking play and go back to the main menu, I can only activate server, go to options, or save and quit. If I save and quit, it goes to the main menu and there's no save file.

The metagame.log shows an error in comms.php probably related to this issue.

Running Win. 8.1
NVIDIA GeForce 650 Ti
RWR version 0.99.2

Attached are metagame.log and rwr_game.log in a zip file.

I've verified the game cache through steam.

Thanks for posting the logs, they certainly show why the load fails. Some part of the script file inclusion seems to behave differently on your system for some reason, leaving some essential variables undefined.

I'll prepare some script edits for you to try, if that's ok? I won't be in a position to work on it tomorrow, but I'll try to get back to you the day after tomorrow.

That's ok. Thanks a lot for responding and helping! I can still play multiplayer and a quick game, but when I try to l load a quick game after saving, it crashes after loading 98%. I can get the log for the issue tomorrow.

Will the same files work for my game as well? I have the exact same problem.

I have a similar issue.
I can start a campaign fine, but when I try to load it when I get on RWR later it loads to 98% and crashes.
I get this message:
"Unrecoverable error occurred, see [the file path for rwr gamelog]"

The new build must have broken something - I couldn't progress an existing campaign and could not start a new one either. Prior to the current update I could advance through the campaign just fine.

Also, it seems whenever I start a quick match and set my force size to about half, and set the hostiles to a quarter, they always seem to overrun our bases with more troops. I thought it was backwards at first so I tested my hypothesis.

This is the conclusion:


1.It wasn't backwards
2.Either way the AI always over ran our positions.

Conclusion: Something wrong with the main menu, like the troop sizes aren't registering fully. Somewhat like the situation about the campaign.

Yeah, sorry about that this one is still pending. I have been away from home=office for the past 4 days, and whenever I had the chance to work on stuff out there I had to investigate the critical issue that prevents about most people from loading an existing campaign properly.

For some I suppose it might also present itself as campaign not starting, but basically I do believe the post from OP in this topic is not happening because of that.

0.99.3 is about to be released now to fix the regression 0.99.2 caused.
