Just made some arbitrary changes to the tutorial map to see if I understood how to save each alpha layer and the height map. After a bunch of crashes for having the wrong sizes of images, i finally got it right (so i thought) but now I'm just getting a flat out crash at 4%.

Street Veteran, or anyone else with experience and brains, is there something I am missing about saving these layers?

No no, u dont save alpha layers as a separate file. Use the RWR extension tool if uyou have installed it. Extensions -> running with rifles -> RWR png output. Then tag all three boxes and press apply. Then move these files to your map folder and run the three bats.

I swear I really am trying to do this on my own, but I'm still fairly confused. I see the rwr.py and rwr.inx, but I don't understand what to do with them. I have clicked them, tried opening with Inkscape- I just get error messages.

Did you do this?
RWR Inkscape extension: it's shipped with the game in installation_folder\tools\inkscape. After you installed Inkscape, put those 2 files (rwr.inx and rwr.py) in the Inkscape\share\extensions folder.

Now in inkscape program you have Extensions menu with RWR png output.

Took a break cause things got a little crazy at work. I'll be back at it again soon. I definitely feel like I'm starting to get the hang of it.

Thank you!
