Hi all, new to the game and love it so far.

Have been having an issue with loss of sound. After awhile, shooting starts to disappear along with walking sounds and explosions until the whole game ends up silent. Restarting will fix this issue. I am unsure as to whether or not this is due to hardware/driver issues or something else. Any suggestions to attempt to fix? I have noticed it being that i use the MP5 a lot that maybe its the silenced weapons, but I will try with the non silenced weapons and see if it still happens.

Thanks!

I never heard about such a bug so far. What audio chip/card do you have? are your drivers up to date ? what OS are you using ?
Did it happen only once or everytime ?

Can you check what's in C:\ProgramData\Running with rifles\config.xml file, and especially what's the value of audiodevice field there?

You might also look into rwr_game.log in the same location, and look for stuff like
13:24:58: : initializing audio
13:24:58: : audio devices found: 1
13:24:58: : audio enabled
13:24:58: : 0: Generic Software
13:24:58: : using device 0

I'd be interested to find out if your system has ended up using HW acceleration for processing the audio. This "Generic software" is usually the device you want to be using due to compatibility issues. Setting audiodevice in config.xml to 255 should make RWR autodetect which device index refers to the software device.

Game log:

00:53:46: : initializing audio
00:53:47: : audio devices found: 2
00:53:47: : audio enabled
00:53:47: : 0: SB X-Fi Audio [9C00]
00:53:47: : 1: Generic Software
00:53:47: : using device 0

In the config.xml file should I change it to 1 so it runs with the Generic Software instead?

Either 255 or 1, both should work.

Changed it to 1 and haven't lost any audio yet. Actually sounds like I have more than I had to begin with :D

Thanks for the help!
