Just a suggestion:
In the center of command areas, such as the Docks in map2, there would be a flagpole/command console that a soldier would have to hoist/activate in order to capture the Docks. Doing so would take 15-25 seconds. during this time span, a notification would go out saying something like "The enemy is capturing the Docks!" the soldier capturing the point would be unable to defend himself, so other soldiers would have to cover him (this would welcome the team-based combat.) Command Posts would make capturing territory more straightforward.

These Command posts could be located on strategic positions such as a roof of a building, or on a hill.

wat u guys think? :P

Sounds good, seems like a better way of capturing than waiting/killing until there are more of you, that the instant capture.

Only problem I can see is how difficult it would be to capture a base stealthily, as you would be a easy target on your own or in a small squad...

we are already working on a better capturing method which is a bit similar to the method you mentioned.
You'll basically have a balance bar with a marker which slides along this bar if there are more greens on the actual sector the slider will slide to the left and the other way round. If there is significantly more manpower of one faction in a sector, a countdown will be triggered. If the countdown reaches 0, the sector belongs to the attacking faction. It's working quite good so far, but it hasn't been worked on a countdown system yet. Won't take too long though. The capture area won't be restricted to a small area around a "flag" or something, but most likely work on the whole sector to avoid a big concentration on a point.

Yeah, the new capture system under work does feel a lot better than the one in 0.60, it's much easier to follow what's happening and how far away you are from capturing a base -- btw JackMayol, the countdown timer is in there now and there's hope it works in online too, still need to test it though.

Currently I don't know exactly if this helps at all with capturing a poorly defended far away base alone, probably it doesn't unless you get lucky and can manage to kill all enemies and stay 10s without anyone arriving to the base. That interest area will still need some more design and something special to trigger a base capture. This tactic should somehow encourage being all stealthy and silent, in my opinion.
