I simply request a mod where when a friend (person on your steam friends list) is on screen, his name is displayed on his character so I can easily locate him!

i see immediate problem on this, i think that multiplayer isnt using any steam things so its kinda, impossible

The Steam implementation is quite rudimental so far but something alike should be done for the final release.

If Pasik can provide a server-side means to change the player soldier name/font/color similar to how we can currently set the player circle color this is certainly moddable.

Currently, it may be possible with the commander indicator option for off-screen.

Tying it to steam friends would be more hacky, but still possible with a custom tracker(and public steam profiles). I had done something similar in another gaming community.

because it can't be a thing. At least not until full steam integration is added.

It could easily be a thing, link friends via profile saves.

Some sort of teammate tagging enabling thing is in plans. Details are vague. I guess a tagged player marker on field / map view / screen edge would be visualized differently in regards to shape/color.

Adding SteamID's to profiles makes sense and a client could automatically tag other players on the server matching SteamID's found in Steam friends list.
