I have been working around an issue where I wanted to add a model to a bullet class projectile so it look like laser bolt and found that the orientation of that projectile never changed regardless of which way I was facing.

An example of this is: If I were facing East or West and fired my weapon the bullet class projectile with a model attached would fire out sideways and if I faced north or south the projectile would look normal.

So I changed my projectiles class to grenade and the model orients correctly with the way I am facing however it causes no damage. Its like I am playing Running with Nerf Guns.

So my question is, Is there a way to use the Bullet class and have the model orient correctly? Or is there a way to make the grenade class damage like a bullet?

I tried orienting billboards for bullet class projectiles a while back and couldn't make anything work, but then again I barely know what I'm doing and OGRE documentation isn't exactly plentiful. It seems the only billboard that works is the hardcoded bullet trail effect. So if pasik is reading this we need either:

1. Access to the bullet trail stuff so we can make additional variants.
2. Orientation for the bullet projectile, like the grenade projectiles already have.
or 3. Grenade class damage that can consume vests in the same way bullets do (for the health point method).

Any one of those should let us make laser guns that aren't goofy or broken in some way.

harified,

I would take any of those options however I would prefer 2 or 3.

Hopefully Pasik will pass through this thread an consider those options.
